Many things are important in a good leader. He or she must create an atmostphere of openness and earned respect. A good leader is respected by his staff when he/ she is there, a great leader is respected when they are not. Various skills are required to gain the commitment of staff and managers alike. The first is shared vision and mission - what do you want to accomplish and how will you add to it aswell? Staff respect a leader who is the first one in the building and the last one out. As a leader you need to have done each job successfully you are asking them to do or be willing to learn, you must also be the one person who works harder than anyone else.
Team-building activities can be a powerful way to unite a group, develop strengths, and address weaknesses – but only if the exercises are planned and carried out strategically. In other words, there has to be a real purpose behind your decision to do the exercise – for example, improving the team's problem-solving or creativity skills – rather than because you felt like giving your people a nice day out of the office.
